This week we checked out the studio of Beau Adams in his San Francisco studio as he prepares for his upcoming solo exhibition with Athen B. in February. Studio visits are one of our favorite things to do for the gallery. Getting complete access into the creative process of such unique individuals is an exciting thing especially when the artist we visit has been working quietly in his studio, not exhibiting anywhere for the past 12+ years. With no Website, Facebook, Instagram or any other kind of social media, Beau has been working without audience over this time, just simply focusing on creating. Within our community, you might see the same artist showing 5+ times a year in the same city, hitting deadline after deadline, as a way to "get in" the art community and or to maintain their relationship with it. Imagine if you just stepped away and didn't put yourself out there for half the time Beau did.....which would be more than 6 years. What would happen?
We're excited to share Beau's work. It's rich with texture and heavy with sarcastic and ironic religious imagery. Stay tuned for more insight to Beau and his process as we approach February!
